Valentine’s Day Studio Session — FAQ & Rundown

What is this experience?

This is a guided, hands-on jewelry or trinket making session. You’ll each create a custom piece using First Person Studios design language and materials, with direct instruction and assistance throughout. During your time in the studio, you’ll shape your own pieces in wax or other modeling materials. The emphasis is on process, collaboration, and making something you’ll actually want to wear or use. During your time in the studio, you’ll shape your own pieces in wax (or other modeling materials). After the session, the studio will handle casting, polishing, and stone setting to transform what you’ve made by hand into finished jewelry.

Is this experience only for couples?

Not at all! We will confirm a headcount when reaching out for your pre-appointment consult; each session requires at least two attendants.

What’s included in the price?

  • One 75-minute guided session
  • All materials and tool use
  • One finished piece per participant
  • Polishing and final fit

Your time includes:

  • Personalizing your chosen designs
  • Wax modeling and forming
  • Review and prep for casting

Where are you located?

The studio is located in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, near the Utica A/C.

How long is each session?

Each session is 75 minutes. Sessions start and end on time to respect other bookings.

What will we make?

Each participant will make one piece from the curated set of options defined by the studio style guide.

What happens after we book?

Once your session is booked, the studio will email you a design summary based on your selection.

This will outline:

  • Your chosen design
  • Standard materials included in the price
  • Included stone options (if applicable)

At this stage, you’re welcome to request:

  • Material changes or upgrades
  • Stone substitutions or enhancements
  • Small adjustments within the studio style guide

Any requested changes will be priced and confirmed before your session, so there are no surprises when you arrive.

Can we bring a design idea or reference?

Possibly! We can evaluate your references to make sure they fall within the guidelines of feasibility. Please note that outside designs or major structural changes may result in a different price than the ones listed in the style guide.

If you’re interested in fully custom work, the studio offers separate custom consultations.

Do we need prior jewelry-making experience?

No experience is necessary. This session is designed for beginners, with tools, techniques, and pacing appropriate for first-timers. You’ll be guided through each step, and the studio will handle any technical final steps that require specialized equipment.

How does the process work after the session?

After your session:

  • The studio will cast your wax models in metal
  • Pieces will be polished and finished
  • Stones will be set by the studio, if applicable.

Your completed pieces will be ready for pickup within 5-7 business days, and shipping is available by request.

How does pricing work?

Pricing listed on the booking page reflects standard materials.

  • Trinkets & accessories are priced in yellow brass or white brass
  • Jewelry pieces (rings, bands, pendants) are priced in sterling silver or yellow brass

These materials are chosen to cast well and wear beautifully over time.

Can we request a different material?

Yes. If you’re interested in a different metal, such as gold, please let us know once you receive your design summary. The studio will review your request and provide a custom price quote before your session.

How do stones work?

After you select your design, the studio will email you a list of stones included with that piece.

If you’d like to:

  • Change the stone
  • Upgrade to a different size or material

A custom quote can be provided before production begins.

What if we want grillz?

If you’re interested in making grillz, please indicate this when booking.

Because grillz requires impressions, the studio will send you a mold kit in advance so everything is ready before your session.

Is there a deposit?

Yes. A $100, nonrefundable, deposit is required per participant to reserve your time slot. This deposit is applied to your total cost.

The remaining balance, based on your final material and stone selections, is due when you arrive at the studio.

Can we make matching pieces?

Yes; matching or complementary pieces are encouraged, but not required. You’re welcome to interpret the same design differently.

Can we take photos?

Please do! Photos and short videos are welcome.
The studio may also take photos for documentation or promotional use unless you opt out.

Are refreshments provided?

Light refreshments will be available, but this is not a food- or drink-focused event. Alcohol is not permitted during the session for safety reasons.

What is the cancellation policy?

Because materials and time slots are reserved in advance:

  • Cancellations are not accepted, but your session can be rescheduled for another day.
  • Late arrivals may be rescheduled to respect other clients’ appointment times.

You may transfer your booking to another group with advance notice. Deposits are non-refundable.

Is this a private experience?

Sessions are private. Group sessions are available upon request.

Is this suitable for engagements or proposals?

This experience is best framed as making something together, not a surprise proposal. If you have something specific in mind, contact the studio in advance to discuss feasibility.
